Celtic blew Rangers away in the first Glasgow Derby of the season to move five points ahead of their city rivals in the Scottish Premiership league race.

A deadly double from Liel Abada and one apiece from Jota and David Turnbull saw Ange Postecoglou's men run out easy 4-0 winners. It was a good old-fashioned doing.

The great and the good among the Celtic fraternity came out in force to heap praise and hail Ange Postecoglou and the boys.

First up was ex-Celtic striker Chris Sutton who led the assault on social media.

The popular BT Sports pundit couldn't resist a wee gloat over the bragging rights as he tweeted: "Ange’s Plan A worked quite well. Superb display from Celtic. An absolute pumping but still only three points. Nothing is won in September. From Rangers point of view, it was rather embarrassing but at least Alfredo is easing his way back into condition"

Sutton's strike partner from the Martin O'Neill era, John Hartson, also got in on the act when he took to social media and tweeted this offering: "What a first half from Celtic - 3-0 stroll in the park!"

Former Celtic goalkeeper Shay Given was full of praise for Postecoglou's men as he tweeted "The Bhoys [are] on fire!" complete with fire and shamrock emojis.

Not one for being shy at coming forward, politician George Galloway a self-confessed Celtic supporter also had his say on social media as he tweeted: "Paradise right enough."

Popular French striker Moussa Dembele, who loves a dig at Rangers supporters during derby days, got involved mid-match with his tongue placed firmly in his cheek tipped Liel Abada to notch a treble and replicate his own feat when he bagged a hat-trick in a Glasgow derby game back in 2017 under Brendan Rodgers when the Hoops won 5-1.

Dembele tweeted: "Hat-trick in progress," with laughing, football and four-leaf clover emojis.

Scottish actor and Celtic fan Tony Curran even posted a video of himself paying homage to Jota for his sumptuous dinked goal that put the Hoops 2-0 up.

Curran tweeted: "What a finish! Celtic 2-0 #Jota."

Former Gamesmaster presenter and radio DJ Dominik Diamond, who is now based in Canada, had a comedic pop at Rangers goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin after his calamitous mistake led to David Turnbull slotting home an easy fourth goal to complete a miserable day for the red, white and blue hordes.

Diamond took to Twitter to jokingly exclaim: "Whit’s the goalie daein? Every Celtic Twitter feed right now" before following it up with a simple "Some team, eh?"

It's fair to say those of a green and white persuasion were coming to the 'four' and were certainly going to enjoy the rest of their Super Saturday.

Who can blame them? The bragging rights belong to Celtic.
