Celtic started off their mid-season tournament in Australia with a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Sydney FC.
The Hoops originally went in front after a shot from Alexandro Bernabei deflected off the chest of Kyogo Furuhashi and into the net.
It was 1-1 soon after, though, when the hosts equalised thanks to a strike from Slovakian winger Robert Mak.
After going into the break, the Parkhead side came out of the traps in the second half and has several chances to go in front once again.
However, against the run of play, the A-League sent took the lead after a wonderful strike from Max Burgress.
Despite a late flurry from the Scottish champions, that was the goal that decided the game, as it ended 2-1.
And at full-time, Bhoys boss Ange Postecoglou was keen to stress he was not happy with the performance.
