Brendan Rodgers has demanded his Celtic side be ruthless and not "soften up" in the final stages of the season as he branded Rangers' recent slip-ups "irrelevant".

The Celtic manager insists he and his players must maintain a laser-focus on winning their own matches and block out any noise from outside.

And Rodgers suggested that goes for other results which might be in Celtic's favour.

Rangers lost to Ross County and dropped points in a goalless draw with Dundee in their last two outings leaving a three-point gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

But Rodgers insisted results of other teams are irrelevant as he urged his players to "create our story" and secure the title from their three-point advantage heading into the split.

The Celtic boss said: "Our focus has always been on ourselves and I made that point to the players, it's irrespective of what happens or what other results, the way it goes for other teams.

"We can only do our work because you can't soften up, especially at this time, just because another team might have drawn or lost or whatever because that's irrelevant.

"You have to perform and get the result because if you come off it against teams that are motivated and organised then they can give you a problem.

"For us, we have to continually focus on our own performance irrespective of what happens elsewhere because we have to create our story, and for that we have to work at it and hopefully that will be the storyline come the end of the season."
