The Green Brigade unveiled a banner at Celtic Park looking ahead to their crucial Scottish Premiership clash against Rangers as Brendan Rodgers strolled to victory against Hearts.

The fan group held aloft a display in the standing section of the stadium in the closing stages of Saturday's league win over Hearts as they moved six points clear at the top of the table.

And the Green Brigade quoted the Soldier's Song in their display as fans await the visit of Rangers to Celtic Park on Saturday, May 11.

The display - with white lettering on a green background - read: "Impatient for the coming fight".

The same words are found in a verse of Amhrán na bhFiann - the Soldier's Song.

The section in the original song reads: "We'll sing a song, a soldier's song. With cheering, rousing chorus.

"As round our blazing fires we throng. The starry heavens o'er us

"Impatient for the coming fight. And as we wait the morning's light

"Here in the silence of the night. We'll chant a soldier's song."

Celtic's win over Hearts - thanks to a double from Kyogo Furuhashi and a Matt O'Riley penalty - sees pressure heaped on Rangers for their league fixture against Kilmarnock tomorrow.

The Ibrox side sit six points adrift due to being three points back before the weekend and scheduling meaning they play almost 24 hours after Celtic.

Ahead of the weekend, Brendan Rodgers admitted the scheduling could be an advantage.

He said: "I can sit here and lie and say no. The scoreboard pressure is always there.

"It doesn’t count for anything if you don’t do the job, though. I think that if you’re playing second, you’ll know the other teams’ result, but primarily you have to focus on yourself.

"It can certainly add weight, especially at this time of the season."
