Lisbon Lion Jim Craig will have the honour of unfurling the league flag as Celtic opens the 2024/25 Scottish Premiership campaign against Kilmarnock.

The former Celtic right-back will get the celebrations and party started ahead of the 4.30 pm kick-off against Kilmarnock. The Celtic legend was part of Jock Stein's legendary European Cup-winning team of 1967 and he will receive a rapturous reception from the club's supporters.

Craig made his Celtic debut in a European Cup-Winners’ Cup tie against Dutch side, Go Ahead Deventer, in October 1965. Over the next seven years would go on to play 231 times for the men in green and white, scoring six goals.

He won seven league titles, four Scottish Cups, four League Cups and, of course, he was part of the most famous Celtic side of all who captured the European Cup in 1967, as Stein’s Celtic side defeated Inter Milan 2-1 at the Estadio Nacional in Lisbon.

His last game for Celtic came at Hampden in May 1972 when Celtic beat Hibernian 6-1 in the Scottish Cup final and after quitting football he enjoyed a long and successful career as a dentist.

Craig has also been involved in the media for many years, both as a broadcaster and writer, and since 2019 he has represented Celtic as a Club Ambassador.
