Giorgos Giakoumakis grabbed the headlines with three brilliant goals for Celtic in their 3-2 win over Dundee but the striker admits the most important thing is the club have increased their title race advantage.

Rangers stuttered to a 1-1 draw at Tannadice in the lunch-time kick-off, meaning a Hoops win would allow them to extend their Premiership lead to three points.

And Ange Postecoglou’s men duly delivered despite losing two goals from set-pieces.

It’s a flaw that has haunted Celtic’s season and one that even the strikers are trying to help iron out.

He told Celtic TV: “It feels great (to score three) to be honest. I was looking forward to scoring goals for Celtic, my club, my team. It is something I was really missing.

“But the most important thing is that we won, having got the advantage of our oppontents(Rangers) dropping points and we increased the distance from them.”

“We have shown we have character. That we are a big team and have some personalities and that we can change for every game.

“To be honest today, we conceded two goals from set-pieces, it’s something that we were not focused on today and it’s something we have to improve. But we did what we did and we won. That’s all that matters.”
