Everything that Brendan Rodgers said to TNT Sports after Celtic's 1-1 Champions League draw with Club Brugge at Parkhead
A point at home what is your assessment of the game?
The first half was not so good, the second half we were much better. A point at this level is still very good. You want to win every game but I thought the first half performance was very passive. We were passive in our pressing and you could see they are a good side. They have had some good results at this level and they have some good experience. They played through that pressure. We had no intensity when we didn't have the ball. With the ball, we just didn't get any real possession or were able to take the ball enough. There were moments when we arrived over the halfway line when we were okay and they were better than us in the first half. In the second half, we adjusted a couple of things and I told the players to get back to what we were good at. We had a much better press and it was much more aggressive and that allowed us to sustain the attacks. We were just waiting for that moment that Daizen (Maeda) gave us which was a brilliant finish and you want to get the winning goal but it didn't quite happen.
What do you put the lack of intensity down to as I now you said the international break disrupted your rhythm in the Hearts game, did the same thing happen tonight?
No. It shouldn't. We weren't aggressive enough and we didn't make contact in our press. That is what we are normally very good at. We lost the goal and went behind and it is all about mentality as we were too passive.
You must be pleased in the second half even though you went 1-0 down that you showed the calmness to still press and play your football. It has helped rescue a point in the end, hasn't it?
We were much more courageous in the second half. When we press well and then normally that activates you to pass it well and that's what we did. We were then working the ball better into gaps and they defended it well and they did some man-marking. We had to really work and probe to get in and you are just waiting for it to drop for you. I am pleased with the second half as I have been involved in enough of these games where you get yourself back into it and then lose it. We didn't and we kept going and we showed that the determination right to the end and that will to get there and it just wasn't to be. It is a really good point against a good side, especially when you don't play so well over the course of 90 minutes. We'll take that into our next game.
Just finally that's eight points after five games. How do you feel this leaves you in terms of qualification?
We are still in a good place. We knew where we wanted to get to and that was to be in the play-off stage by the end of January. We are still well on track for that. We have two away games and one at home and we will be ready for them when they come.
