Alan Brazil slams Rangers for snubbing ex-Celtic pair Neil Lennon and Chris Sutton

talkSPORT breakfast host Alan Brazil finished this morning's show by turning the screw on the Light Blues regarding the situation. 

The pair were hoping to attend Rangers' Europa League defeat to Lyon in their roles as pundits for BT Sport.

But were refused media access, with Sutton claiming Gers chief Stewart Robertson said they were a "security risk".

A statement from the Premiership champions then followed, refuting the claim and insisting that the club had "complied with all UEFA contractual obligations to facilitate BT as host broadcaster".

BT Sport later released a statement clarifying their position.

It read: "We had hoped that Darrell Currie and the team would be able to present the coverage of both the Celtic and Rangers UEFA Europa League games live from Ibrox this evening, as we have done in the past.

"Rangers have since raised security concerns and so we have had to change our plans."

And in the aftermath of the event, former Scotland striker Brazil has revealed he was bemused to hear about the access block.

Explaining last night's revelations, he commented: "I'm gobsmacked by this Trevor. Absolutely gobsmacked."

Trevor Sinclair branded the decision "mickey mouse".

He chipped in: "It's an own goal isn't it? I think from Rangers' point of view that should've been dealt with. 

"They should've had a security situation in place where they could get the boys in safely prior to the Rangers fans arriving at half six I think it was. 

"Get them in a six o'clock nice and easy in a blacked-out vehicle, let them do their jobs for BT and then get them out an hour or so afterwards. 

"I think it's damaging for Scottish football to deny entry for media to do their job. 

"Two big names in Scottish football and for them to be denied entry into Ibrox to do their jobs I think it's poor play from me."

Brazil: "Let's take our very own Ally McCoist. Ally's very welcome at Parkhead. 

"Yes you'll have the odd fan who will give Ally a bit of stick but the majority would appreciate what a player Ally McCoist was and what a character he is. 

"I find this incredible."

Sinclair: "If this happened down here, it's like saying Ian Wright can't go inside Spurs' stadium, or Gary Neville isn't welcome inside Anfield or the Etihad.

"It's an absolute joke and listen, it's mickey mouse. They've got to look at their security issues and sort it out. 

"The broadcasters, who are paying a lot of money to show these games on TV, need to get their talent in place to do their jobs. Is this not just petty?"

Brazil continued: "I've had run-ins with Rangers recently, which I don't really want to go in to. 

"At the end of the day, I've got to give my opinion because that's what I'm here for. 

"For me, it (Rangers vs Celtic) was the biggest derby in the world for me and they've killed it stone dead with no supporters. 

"I think the SPFL have got to get involved here. You cannot have broadcaster coming in and paying big money to host games and then the club decides who comes in and who cannot. That is wrong. 

"I'll be very interested to hear what Jim White has to say about this because he's a lot closer to the club than I ever could be."

And when White took over the hotseat on the radio show, his producer was able to shed some more light on the situation. 

They said they'd been told by the club that BT Sport have been made aware for over a year that Sutton is not welcome at Ibrox following his previous comments about the club. 

It was also said that both Sutton and Lennon would have to walk around the trackside of three of the four stands at the stadium, which was where the club's safety concerns were raised.
