DUNDEE United boss Tam Courts claims his side were denied a stonewall penalty in the score draw with Celtic.
The Tangerines boss hit out at referee Kevin Clancy for waving play on after Cameron Carter-Vickers sent Nicky Clark down in the box after a collision.
But former Premier League ref Dermot Gallagher has supported his fellow whistler ruling that he couldn't give the spot-kick if he was to remain 'consistent'.
Gallagher, speaking on Sky Sports' Ref Watch, claimed Peter Pawlett had made a similar challenge on Carl Starfelt in the build-up which went unpunished.
And for that reason he agreed that it was not a penalty, despite the huge cries for the spot-kick from the United players and staff.
Gallagher explained: “One thing I would say about this is – you ask for consistency.
“And the referee has been absolutely consistent as I think there’s a foul on a Celtic player just before which was almost identical (to the claims for a penalty).
“He’s allowed both to go with physical contact and didn’t give either decision.
“He’s decided both are comings together and judged both within a couple of seconds the same.”
