THE National Clinical Director has admitted he is "worried" about 50,000 people travelling to Hampden for this weekend's Premier Sports Cup final.
Hibs will face Celtic at the national stadium in the first showpiece event of the season on Sunday, December 19.
Jason Leitch has raised some concerns about the game as Omicron variant Covid cases rise across Scotland.
The professor said that while the game itself is not the major worry in this situation, it is the process of supporters and everyone else travelling to and from the match.
Celtic will have around 30,000 fans at the game, while Hibs are expected to take 19,000 to the cup spectacle.
As is natural for matches at Hampden, a large portion of these supporters will either travel via public transport or by supporter buses.
And Leitch said: “Once you get to the cup final, I’m actually not that worried because that’s outdoors, it’s a big space, it will be Scotland in December — it will likely be windy and cold. So the virus won’t like that. What I am worried about is the buses, the cars, the trains getting to that event.”
Leitch repeated Nicola Sturgeon's call for those socialising over the festivities to do a lateral flow test, while also getting the booster dose of the Covid vaccine.
