Joe Hart: The Celtic number one's heart would have skipped a beat as Conor Sammon's 45-yard chip shot floated over the top inside 90 seconds. Hart bailed captain Callum McGregor out with a huge save from Sammon's piledriver on 36 minutes after an awry backpass in an otherwise quiet night. 7

Anthony Ralston: The right-back returned to the starting fold at the expense of Croatian international Josip Juranovic and was robbed of possession on the halfway line that presented Sammon with an early opportunity that the Irishman spurned. Ralston linked the play up well with the interchanging Abada and Maeda. 7

Stephen Welsh: The Scots defender was restored to the side in place of Cameron Carter-Vickers, who was given a well-earned rest. He knew he was in a contest with wily old experienced competitor Sammon who gave him no peace all evening. He seemed to get caught underneath the cross when Sammon reduced the arrears. 6

Carl Starfelt: The Swedish stopper was confident and assured in everything he did. He strode forward at will to try to set up attacks. He was also diligent in his defensive duties and looks as though he is completely laser-focused on the job at hand since the campaign resumed. 7

Liam Scales: The Irishman was drafted back into the side for the first time since the 3-1 win over St Johnstone on Boxing Day. He delivered a sumptuous cross into the box that was gobbled up by Giakoumakis in 14 minutes and he cut an impressive figure all evening, looking comfortable on the left with on-point distribution. 8

Callum McGregor: The skipper was given licence to roam forward as he was being protected by Ideguchi. He endured a rare moment of slackness with an attempted backpass that presented Sammon with a goalscoring chance but Hart bailed him out. His match didn't last much longer as he left the field as a precautionary measure owing to a head/cheekbone injury in 42 minutes. 5

Yosuke Ideguchi: The Japanese midfielder was handed his first start for his new club and he was deployed in a defensive role initially. The former Leeds player was moved further forward when McGregor was substituted for McCarthy and displayed some strong tackling ability. He was the victim of a crude follow-through challenge by Mouhamed Niang who could have walked for it. 6

Tom Rogic: The Aussie was making his last appearance before hooking up with his country for the World Cup qualifiers. He tested David Hutton with a drive and displayed some dazzling footwork on occasion. It was a bit of a quiet evening for the midfielder by the impeccably high standards that he has set this season. 6

Liel Abada: The Israeli wide man had rediscovered some recent form and forced a decent save from Alloa goalkeeper Hutton on 17 minutes with a snapshot. It was a real touch of class for the second goal as he wrapped his left foot around the ball and curled in a cracker for his 11th goal of the season. His cross-cum-shot almost deceived Hutton just after the restart before being replaced by Jota in the 51st minute. 7

Daizen Maeda: The Japanese forward was looking to add to his tally after a dream goalscoring debut on Monday night. He was a constant threat and menace down the left and right flanks as he interchanged with Abada. He almost squeezed the ball past Hutton in 31 minutes, but was denied, and was again from a header before the hour mark when he slashed one into the side-netting. His movement was excellent, however, he overshot the runway at times with his delivery from wide positions. 7

Giorgos Giakoumakis: The Greek hitman was offered a rare chance to shine in attack. He instinctively volleyed home an absolute beauty on 15 minutes following Scales'  cross for his second Celtic goal and a much-needed confidence boost. He then missed a sitter seconds later when he slipped the ball inches wide when playing in Maeda might have been the better option. 7

Substitutes

James McCarthy: The Ireland international replaced skipper McGregor in the midfield on 44 minutes and played the deep-lying anchor role with no frills and fuss and always seemed to find a Celtic shirt with a pass. 6

Jota: The Portuguese winger came on for the injured Abada on 51 minutes and copped some roughhouse treatment. He looked like a coiled spring, as if he had been champing at the bit to get back out and play. He picked out a superb cross for Maeda whose header was saved by Hutton and generally looked incredibly sharp. 6

Nir Bitton: The Israeli came on for the injured Ideguchi after 62 minutes. 4
