FORMER Celtic manager Wim Jansen has passed away, it has been announced. 

The death of the Parkhead hero has been confirmed by ex-club Feyenoord. 

The 75-year-old was diagnosed with dementia in October last year, with Celtic sending their well wishes to their former boss. 

Jansen famously guided Celtic to the title in his only season in charge in 1998.

But this lunchtime the football community is mourning the loss of Jansen. 

A statement from Feyenoord reads: "With the death of Wim Jansen, Feyenoord loses a special person and someone who was associated with the club all his life. 

"Jansen served the club as a (youth) player, youth, assistant and head coach, technical director and advisor to the trainers of Feyenoord Academy. 

"In October last year it was announced in Jansen's biography that he was suffering from dementia."

A Feyenoord and Dutch football legend, Jansen made over 500 appearances for the club, while he also played in two World Cup finals – 1974 and ’78.

As Celtic manager, he brought Henrik Larsson to Paradise from Feyenoord, and in his season in charge of the Hoops, Wim also won the League Cup as well as the league title.
