ANGE POSTECOGLOU has praised his ‘resilient mob’ of players after Celtic maintained their position at the top of the Premiership with a comfortable win over Livingston.
Celtic hadn’t won at the Tony Macaroni Arena in their previous five visits, but they made light work of their trip to one of the league’s traditionally difficult venues with a deserved 3-1 victory.
Postecoglou was thrilled with the showing put on by his men, and the Celtic manager has backed them to keep overcoming the challenges posed to them in the eight league games that now remain.
“As I keep saying, they are a really resilient mob,” Postecoglou said. “The last time we left here we were in sixth spot, so it goes to show you.
“Right from the start, even though there were difficult beginnings, this group of players, every challenge they’ve had they’ve overcome and they’ll continue to overcome them.
“It was very pleasing. We kind of know it’s a difficult place to come and win, but more importantly, we played really well.
“We were dominant from the first minute. We created good chances.
“They are always a threat from set-pieces, but really that was the only threat. They area big side so I thought that would be a big challenge for us, but we handled it really well.
“The key is just to approach each game and every challenge in the same way, and that’s what we do.
“It’s a difficult venue, a difficult opponent, but we still thought the answers lay in playing our football, having good energy and a good tempo, and we did that from the start.”
Postecoglou was also delighted with the return to form of James Forrest, who scored Celtic’s third to cap off an impressive individual display.
“Yeah, very [pleased],” he said. “He’s been working hard.
“As I’ve said all along, we wanted to put together a strong squad, and when we have everyone available we have people who can contribute.
“I thought James, Tommy (Rogic), Tony Ralston, all the boys who came in today gave us the energy, because it was three games in a week and I thought that would help us.
“James was outstanding and took his goal really well, and he played well as well.”
