ANGE POSTECOGLOU has explained why Celtic's star man Kyogo missed out of yesterday's derby clash with Rangers.
The Japanese striker has recently recovered from a long-term hamstring injury which has ruled him out for over three-months.
He has not featured since Boxing Day after a storming first-half of the season, as he bagged 16-goals in all competitions since his summer arrival.
But Postecoglou did reveal last week that he could potentially make his matchday squad for Sunday's game with Rangers.
However, Kyogo was nowhere to be seen - as the Hoops boss revealed there was no point in risking the long-term absentee.
He hinted a return this weekend against St Johnstone may be on the cards.
He said on BBC Sportsound: “Yes he’ll be fine (to face St Johnstone).
"He was desperate to play today but when I look at our run-in we’ve got some massive games.
"He’s such an important player for us and I thought today we could handle it without him.
“To be fair he tried everything. Everywhere I turned he popped up in front of me to make sure I knew he was ready to go.
"I couldn’t walk around Lennoxtown without seeing him.
“But we’ll keep him on ice. He’s ready to go, he’ll be fine and he’ll be involved next week.”
