CELTIC defender Cameron Carter-Vickers will be handed an international recall after three years after USA manager Gregg Berhalter revealed he will be in his next squad.
And his Hoops displays could be enough to seal him a spot at the World Cup in Qatar later this year, potentially against Scotland.
The on-loan Spurs defender has been in excellent form for Celtic as they edge closer to reclaiming the Premiership title. He has been capped eight times by the States, but the last of those came in a friendly against Jamaica where he played at left back in 2019.
However, he is set to be recalled to the American team for their busy schedule next month where they will play four games - two friendlies against Morocco and Uruguay in Cincinnati and Kansas City and two Concacaf Nations League games in Austin against Grenada and away to El Salvador in San Salvador.
Berhalter said: "For the June matches, I will be inviting two players who weren't part of the qualifying effort - Cameron Carter-Vickers at Celtic and Haji Wright at Antalyaspor.
"Both are enjoying fine seasons in Europe.
"I would rather look at a guy like Carter-Vickers to see what he can do than someone like
John Brooks at Wolfsburg because I have worked with him before and know what he's all about.
"There are still some World Cup spots still up for grabs. It’s not locked in.
"It’s a group with a ton of potential and it’s a group with a bright future. The goal is to get out of the group. Once you get out of the group, we have players who are used to playing in knockout games for big European clubs. They are used to playing where the expectation is to win.
"The question I want to ask the guys is, ‘Do you think we’re capable of beating any team when we play our best game?’ If the answer is yes, then why can’t we go for it?"
