Celtic have been given an update on alleged transfer target Bamba Dieng.
Ange Postecoglou's side were first linked with the Marseille forward through reports in France.
The 22-year-old forward, who can play off either flank or as a striker, has reportedly fallen down the pecking order at the former Champions League winners.
His fate was made even more clear after comments from club chief Pablo Longoria.
He stated that, in terms of attackers, the French side only "need two in each position".
This comes after Marseille recently completed the signing of Alexis Sanchez.
Their squad is now fairly bloated, with over nine attacking options for only three forward positions.
However, Celtic would not be the only ones interested, with Crystal Palace and Leeds United just some of the teams reportedly chasing the Senegalese's signature.
Hoops boss Postecoglou has previously said the club are still active in the transfer market, but finances could be a stumbling block in this case, given the former French champions are said to be looking for at least £10million if they are to sell the player.
