CHAMPIONS LEAGUE qualification is still up in the air for Rangers this season.

And Richard Foster reckons qualification or failure to, will have a huge say on the Scottish Premiership title race.

If Rangers fail to get by PSV in the play-off for the Champions League they will head into the Europa League and as a result, play their league matches on a Sunday.

Celtic will be playing on a Saturday, barring Sunday TV selections, and Foster believes this could prove pivotal in the title race.

He told BBC Sportsound: "I think if it is Europa League for Rangers it will make it tougher.

"They will always be on the Sunday and I think that will make it tougher.

"That puts more onus on next week to go and get a result against PSV.

"Yes we know the financial riches that are available and we know the prestige of playing in the Champions League.

"When you hear the music come on it is a fantastic arena to play football in the Champions League.

"You are playing Tuesday and Wednesday nights, if you are playing Europa League you are playing Thursday.

"Celtic more often than not are going to be the Saturday game and Rangers will always be the Sunday game.

"You are always going to be playing catch up. If Celtic hit a bit of momentum it will be very difficult to always be chasing.

"When it flips and flops over the season, sometimes you are before and sometimes you are after, you just get used to it.

"If you are always chasing it can make it very difficult. That is another reason why it is important for Rangers to get through."
