NEIL LENNON insists he could not believe his eyes when he caught a glimpse of the new Omonia Nicosia kit for the 2022/23 campaign.

Using a green and white hooped design, Celtic hero Lenny admits he was pleased to see a familiar sight upon embarking on his Cypriot journey.

Appearing on talkSPORT this morning, he told Alan Brazil that he loved the similar connections to his past with the Hoops.

However, he couldn't resist a joke with Rangers legend Ally McCoist that the ex-Scotland striker would have been reeling when he discovered the jersey.

Speaking ahead of his side's clash with Manchester United in the Europa League tonight, Lennon spoke about his experience in Cyprus so far.

Appearing on webcam, Brazil noticed a shamrock logo on Lennon's shirt.

And that's when the light-hearted banter started.

The radio host said: "He (McCoist) hasn’t mentioned it yet but I just love that shamrock badge on your t-shirt there.”

Lennon said: “I’m telling you Al, you’ll be even happier when you see our kit. Coisty will be fuming.”

McCoist: “Aw man. Do you ever playing in your second strip? Then I’ll come and watch you.”

Lennon explained some more about Omonia's Celtic connections. He said: “On my first night the chief executive came in to say ‘you’ll never believe the design for the home kit next season’.

“Out it comes – it’s green and white hoops.”

Laughing, McCoist added: “Who’s your next club? Plymouth or Yeovil?”

Sharp in his response, Lennon quipped: “Sporting Lisbon, hopefully.”
