NEIL LENNON was minutes away from masterminding a huge Europa League shock against Manchester United tonight.
The Celtic hero was just three-minutes away from successfully guiding Omonia Nicosia to a 0-0 draw at Old Trafford against all the odds.
However, Scott McTominay netted in injury time to secure all three points for the Premier League giants.
Erik ten Hag's side completely dominated the group match.
However, the Red Devils badly struggled to break down Omonia's stubborn backline, who defended bravely throughout.
United enjoyed over 70 per cent possession of the ball, as a frustrated home crowd watched on.
They had 32 shots in total, with 13 of them on target.
In comparison, Omonia managed three shots all evening, with one of them hitting the target.
So while it may have been attack versus defence, backs to the wall sort of stuff all night, it was nearly a famous night for Lennon and his team.
The ex-Hoops gaffer understandably looked gutted at full-time.
However, he can be very proud of his players and their outstanding efforts.
