SIMON DONNELLY has claimed that the current handball rules are WRONG after Celtic were on the end of a VAR penalty call against Dundee United.
Defender Alexandro Bernabei was penalised for handling the ball in the box in the first-half of the contest and Steven Fletcher converted from the spot.
Referee David Dickinson did not see the initial incident and was urged by VAR to take a second look on the pitch side monitors. After viewing the incident again, a penalty was awarded.
Reacting to the decision, Donnelly said: "The cross comes in and he tries to head it away initially. He is up in mid-air.
"I don't know anyone who can jump and not have their arms moving, he goes with his momentum, the ball is behind his back.
"His trailing arm, and the ball his headed off his arm.
"Now the rules of the game, I believe that is a penalty. But the rules are wrong.
"It is not a penalty. The referees will tell us that is the rules.
"For me, the rules are ridiculous. We go back to the one at Tynecastle. What is the difference? There is absolutely no difference."
