ANGE POSTECOGLOU this afternoon insisted there is "no situation" after Sead Haksabanovic was called-up to the Montenegro squad.

Celtic have already confirmed their stance over the World Cup break with no players being released for international friendlies.

Players selected for the World Cup will be allowed to leave for international action but anyone not involved will head to Australia with Celtic.

It means Celtic and Scotland stars Greg Taylor, Anthony Ralston and David Turnbull will all head Down Under having not been available for selection by Steve Clarke.

Haksabanovic, however, has been named in the squad by Montenegro - but Postecoglou insists there is no situation surrounding the club stance.

Clubs are not obliged to allow players to leave for international action with the break not deemed a FIFA international window.

Quizzed on the "situation", Postecoglou replied: "There is no situation at all.

"Everyone that is not going to the World Cup is coming to Sydney with us.

"It is not an issue. I know everyone is trying to make it an issue.

"It is not a designated international window and that is because FIFA has allowed clubs to make their own decisions.

"We have made our own decisions as a club, and I do not need to discuss that with anyone."

On the Celtic decision on international call-ups, Scotland boss Clarke stated: “The base-line is that it’s not an official international window.

“I don’t know why because there’s a World Cup window going on. That sounds pretty official to me.

“The clubs don’t have to release their players and Celtic have chosen not to release their players for this game.

"I’m disappointed with that decision but we have to take it on the chin.”

He added: “It was just a blanket decision. Celtic have said none of their players are available for any international games for all the countries affected.

“The biggest issue for me is that it’s not a recognised FIFA international window.

"I can’t get my head round that one. It’s disappointing but we’ll deal with it.”
