Former English top-flight referee Dermot Gallagher has sympathy for the penalty Celtic conceded against Ross County recently.
The Irishman understands why the club and fans feel let down by the call after Matt O'Riley was controversially judged to have handled the ball during the Scottish Premiership match.
It led to the Staggies going 1-0 up before the Scottish champions bounced back to win 2-1 thanks to goals from David Turnbull and Sead Haksabanovic.
The result put Ange Postecoglou's side nine points clear at the top of the league table.
Despite the frustrations from the Bhoys camp surrounding the decision, Gallagher has maintained the Scottish game must persevere with the technology.
He told Sky Sports: “I think he’s really unlucky. What can he do? It flicks up and hits his elbow no doubt but it was given and that’s it. You have to accept it. It’s not going to be utopia straight away but it will be moving forward."
The Parkhead club have been on the end of some debatable decisions since the technology was introduced, and Postecoglou has made his feelings clear regarding how VAR is being used.
"For me, it is not about the decisions," he commented.
"Even with VAR, there are going to be decisions that are still contentious.
"It is about the process. That is why I was concerned about the fanfare when it was introduced.
"It is not a new thing and has been along for a while. Officials in our league that referee in Europe have used it.
"We make it out that it is this big thing when really it should have been a case of we have it now, and let's get on with it.
"However, there has been this big fanfare around it, and now we have been told to expect teething problems.
"I do not understand why there would be teething problems with something that has been around for four years.
"If it is not ready, then do not start with it. Wait until everyone is comfortable with it. For me, it is not about the decisions."
