Celtic have resurrected their interest in Egyptian hero Afsha and want to bring him to Glasgow on a loan move in January, according to reports in his homeland.
The Hoops have been linked with a move for the 26-year-old - Mohamed Magdy - before, but have yet to make any interest official.
Attacking midfielder Afsha plays for Cairo giants Al Ahly and signed a new contract two years ago, but he's been consistently linked with a move to Europe.
He's been instrumental in Al Ahly’s success in the last two years, helping them to a total of seven trophies since arriving from Pyramids FC.
He saw a £300,000 move to Sivasspor collapse in August and his agent, Abdel-Rahman Ismail, said then: "He received an offer from the Turkish League but it did not match Al Ahly’s financial demands.
“We are working to provide other opportunities for Afsha and there are already some preliminary talks with other clubs in Europe, but that hasn’t materialised into official offers yet.”
Now Egyptian media reports suggest Celtic want to take him on loan with an option to buy when the transfer window reopens in January.
Afsha, who links up with Liverpool legend Mo Salad for Egypt, has won 13 caps for his country and has twice helped Al Ahly reach the FIFA Club World Cup semi-finals.
Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou revealed this week he wanted to bring in new faces in January and confirmed the signing of Japanese defender Yuki Kobayashi.
