CANADA star Alistair Johnston has revealed Victor Wanyama has been in his ear about a move to Celtic.

The defender is a current team-mate of Wanyama's at CF Montreal and admitted the Kenyan has urged him to make the switch to Parkhead.

It's reported a deal worth up to £3million has been agreed between the MLS club and Celtic for the transfer of Johnston.

And while the defender stopped short of confirming a move, he revealed he's been doing his own research into Celtic - on top of Wanyama's "glowing reviews".

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Johnston explained: "Victor is one who has definitely been in my ear about it. He had glowing reviews for the club.

"He was one of the ones who said to me: 'Look, if you get an opportunity and something comes up at Celtic, you have to take it'.

"Vic says it’s the biggest club he had ever played for and he has played for some pretty big clubs in Spurs and Southampton — so that was a pretty glowing recommendation.

"He said that anywhere he went he still got constant shouts of 'Hail, Hail' and 'Come on the Bhoys'.

"So I got a glowing review from Victor and I have done a lot of my own research.

"Victor has done a lot of research for me as well, to be fair — he’s the best agent Celtic could have."

Johnston has impressed for his country at the World Cup in Qatar playing in both matches so far against Belgium and Croatia.

And in the most recent match, Johnston came up against potential future Celtic team-mate Josip Juranovic.

Celtic are reportedly prepared to listen to offers for the right-back with Johnston expected to make the move to Glasgow.

After the match between Croatia and Canada, Johnston and Juranovic spoke briefly on the Parkhead interest.

Johnston said: "Josip is a really good player. I had a little chat with him after the game and he is a good lad,’ said Johnston.

"He played an unbelievable game for Croatia and he’s quick, isn’t he? He is a solid player and it’s easy to see why Celtic fans love him.

"He brought the Celtic situation up a little bit to me, but that’s a conversation I can hopefully have with him in a little more detail in the future.

"For now, I just wish him and Croatia all the best for the rest of the World Cup."
