CELTIC have reportedly joined the transfer chase to sign South Korea striker Cho Gue-sung.
It's claimed Parkhead chiefs are interested in a move for the World Cup star who scored a headed double against Ghana for his country.
The Scottish Sun report Gue-sung is wanted by a host of European clubs in the upcoming January window.
Gue-sung, 24, came off the bench in his country's World Cup opener where they played out a goalless draw with Uruguay.
But he was in from the start against Ghana where he netted a brace despite his side falling to a 3-2 defeat in Qatar.
The player is a known talent for Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou who watched the striker score against his Yokohama F Marinos team in the Asian Champions League in 2020.
Gue-sung was in electric form last season with 21 goals in 35 games for Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors having missed eight league matches.
The striker was on special leave for two weeks, missed another couple through thigh problems and was sidelined for a further four games with a hamstring issue.
Postecoglou has already added to his squad in January from the Asian market with the signing of Yuki Kobayashi on a five-year deal from Vissel Kobe.
The 22-year-old is set to link up with his Celtic team-mates this month before becoming available for selection in January.
And Postecoglou has previously stated he will continue to scour the Asian market for value signings.
He said: "Asia is seen as the other side of the world and there is a historical tendency to only look at Europe and South America because they are seen as the strong football continents.
"But if you look at the Bundesliga, there have been some fantastic Japanese footballers there.
So I do think other nations don't take as much notice as they perhaps should.
"As Asia and North America get more attention, it will become even more attractive as a market."
It comes as Giorgos Giakoumakis could make a shock January exit from Celtic.
Reports have claimed talks between Celtic and the Greek striker over a new and improved contract have stalled.
It's suggested Celtic have been unable to reach an agreement with the 27-year-old despite lengthy negotiations.
Giakoumakis is under contract at Parkhead until 2026 but it's reported he could be on his way out of the club unless there is a 'significant' change of heart' from either party.
