Cho Gue sung's possible move to Celtic could be pushed back, according to a new report.

The South Korean international has been heavily linked with a move to Ange Postecoglou's side after an impressive World Cup with his national team.

Cho netted twice against Ghana before his team ultimately bowed out of the competition at the last 16 stage against Brazil.

It had been reported that the 24-year-old could move to Celtic in the January transfer window but Football Scotland now say this could be pushed back.

The report states that Cho's current outfit Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors are keen to keep their frontman until the summer.

It is understood if Celtic were to pay the right price they could be tempted to part with the striker.

Speaking earlier this week about a potential move, Cho explained: "I haven't heard anything about European clubs.

"However, as a player, I naturally have a dream to go out on the world stage and face world-class players.

"Entering the European stage has been a dream since I was young. I want to go to any place where I can improve my skills and grow."

Cho's father Cho Chae-hwan spoke about a transfer move for his son this week as he revealed that a deal was close.

He explained: "The advice I have given my son is when he signs for a team abroad, go to a club that can play the way he likes, rather than choosing a club because they are a big name.

"He needs a club that will help him adapt and settle down to a new lifestyle on and off the pitch.

"I know his agent is in the process of finalising negotiations regarding his transfer overseas. He will certainly go to Europe.

"Ahead of the World Cup, I told him that this was a tournament that he had to show everyone what he could do on the pitch and I think he did that.

"He has had a great time at the World Cup and I am certainly very proud of him."

Fenerbahce and Rennes have also been linked with the Celtic target.
