Ex-Celtic captain Scott Brown has been joined at Fleetwood Town by former Republic of Ireland international Jonathan Walters.

The 39-year-old, who played in the Premier League with Stoke, has been appointed as the English League One club's new technical director.

Brown, who took over the Cods in the summer, will work with Walters to develop the football department at the Highbury stadium.

Fleetwood are currently 16th in the third tier of English football.

In a statement on the club's official website, chairman Andy Pilley said: “We are delighted to welcome such a well respected name in the game to the club in a role which we feel is hugely important.

“Jonathan is an experienced and knowledgeable character who can help the club move to the next level in structure, recruitment and sporting success on the pitch.

“Fleetwood Town were one of the first League One clubs to appoint a Technical Director in Gretar Steinsson back in 2015, and we felt now was the right time to bring the role back.

“It’s a hugely exciting appointment.”

Meanwhile, the Hoops should not be expecting to receive "massive money" for Josup Juranovic this January.

That's the view of former Scotland and Motherwell star James McFadden.

The ex-Everton ace reckons the Hoops will make a tidy profit on the right-back, who starred for Croatia at the World Cup recently.

However, he cannot see a huge bid coming in from any club in the coming weeks for the 27-year-old.

Speculation surrounding Juranovic's future has grown and grown since Qatar 2022. He was a standout for Croatia as they finished third in the competition.

The likes of Barcelona, Torino, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, Chelsea and Manchester United have all been credited as having an interest in the full-back.

Despite his reputation growing by the day, McFadden can't see Celtic getting a ridiculous amount of money for one of their top talents.

He told Open Goal: “It looks like he’s going to be away.

"His performances at the World Cup (and) the teams that are mentioned, you would expect it that he’ll be away.

"I don’t think it will be massive money, but it’ll be a nice profit on £2.5m. For a Scottish team to get £15-£20m it’s incredible, but for these big teams it’s not a massive outlay for the.

"I don’t think it will be massive, massive money but it will still be good for a guy you signed for £2.5m a year and a half ago.”
