Celtic's B team have announced that starlets Ben McPherson and Joe Morrison have signed contract extensions with the club.

The two players, who have featured regularly for the young Hoops so far this season, will now be on the books of the Parkhead side until at least 2025.

McPherson, a right-back, and Morrison, a goalkeeper, have been involved in the Lowland League campaign and also played their part in the UEFA Youth League fixtures.

Speaking to the club's official website, McManus said: “Both players have worked tremendously hard this year and we are delighted to have the new contracts in place.

“Darren and I look forward to continue working with the boys on their development and hopefully watch them make their mark in the first-team in the future.”

In other news, Jim Goodwin has told Ange Postecoglou that his comments about linking Celtic and Rangers are not that deep.

The Hoops boss earlier this week took issue with the Aberdeen manager clubbing the two Glasgow giants together when referring on to how to combat them.

The Australian claimed that it was actually a benefit to his team if opposition managers viewed Celtic and Rangers in the same way - because they play totally different to each other.

However, Goodwin has expanded on what he meant by his comments, insisting that he was simply referring to the dominance both teams have had on Scottish football for nearly four decades.

"I am not sure why anyone would take offence to a remark like that but I think I just made the point that Celtic and Rangers have dominated the Premier League table for years," he said.

"I don’t know the last time anyone outwith those two won the league. Is it 37 years?

"Maybe you can explain that to Ange and tell him that is what I meant.

"Unfortunately Celtic and Rangers have run away with the league for the last 37 years.

"I know he is only here a short time so maybe he just needs to look back and see what history tells him.

"In terms of comparing Celtic and Rangers, they have two different styles of play, two different managers but they are both very good teams.

"Ange Postecoglou has got his side playing a very attacking, entertaining and energetic style of football.

"Michael Beale is a new manager and will maybe take a bit more time to implement his ideas.

"I am a little bit bemused as to why he would be disappointed with that.”
