Celtic have been credited with an interest in another two J-League players amid reports that centre-forward Giorgos Giakoumakis is closing in on a move to Japan.

The 28-year-old, signed from VVV-Venlo in the Netherlands in the summer of 2021, has been linked with a move away from Parkhead during the January transfer window with a number of clubs said to be keeping tabs on the striker.

Japanese outfit Urawa Red Diamonds are believed to be amongst the clubs leading the chase for the Greek’s signature and newspaper Sponichi is reporting that Giakoumakis will travel to Tokyo in the coming days to undergo a medical.

Italian outfit Sampdoria and France’s Bordeaux are reportedly mulling over bids of their own but it is understood that Urawa Red Diamonds are prepared to offer the striker a larger wage.

Sponichi add that Ange Postecoglou is considering moves for Shimizu S-Pulse duo Thiago Santana and Yuito Suzuki.

Santana, 29, was the J-League’s top scorer last term with 14 goals. Prior to his move to Japan in December 2020 for around €1million, the Brazilian had spent four years in Portugal after leaving his homeland.

Suzuki, meanwhile, has previously been linked with a move to Parkhead. The 21-year-old midfielder, capped at Under-23 level for Japan, came through the youth ranks at Shimizu S-Pulse and has made 93 first-team appearances.
