Moritz Jenz has reportedly said his goodbyes to his Celtic team-mates as he is set to depart Glasgow.

The central defender was due to remain at Celtic on a season-long loan but it is claimed he will return to parent club Lorient this month.

And it's then reported that Jenz will again head out on loan to German side Schalke on a loan-to-buy arrangement.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Jenz bid farewell to his team-mates on Tuesday morning ahead of a switch to Germany.

Jenz has played 19 times for Celtic since joining the club on loan in the summer.

The defender - who Celtic held the option to sign permanently - also scored twice.

Jenz said on his Celtic situation previously: “It is hard to say because it's still relatively early. My agent and the club representatives will discuss this. I'm relatively happy at Celtic and it's really fun here.

“Every day is a dream. I hope it can continue like this in the long term. Let’s see what happens. I just keep going full throttle for Celtic.”

Ange Postecoglou has already bolstered his defensive options this month with Yuki Kobayashi and Tomoki Iwata joining the club from the J-League.

Alistair Johnston also joined Celtic this month from MLS side CF Montreal with Josip Juranovic leaving the club to join Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin.
