Callum McGregor is now just one more winning trophy away from equalling Jimmy Johnstone on the list of most decorated Celtic players.

McGregor captained Celtic to the League Cup after a 2-1 win against Rangers at Hampden to continue his remarkable finals record of winning every one of the 15 he'd played in as a senior player and as a youth player.

The winners medal took his tally to 18 as a player and at 29, he looks set to become one of Celtic's most successful all-time players.

McGregor has now won seven titles, four Scottish Cups and seven League Cups.
As a player only, Bobby Lennox won more trophies than anyone else, even club icon Billy McNeill.

Lennox won 25 - one European Cup, 11 league medals, eight Scottish Cup medals, and five League Cup medals in two spells as a Celtic player, while McNeill is next with 23 as a player only - one European Cup, nine titles, seven Scottish Cups and six League Cups.

Scott Brown, now manager of Fleetwood Town, is next with 22 winning medals, including ten in the Premiership, six Scottish Cups and six League Cups.

Current Hoops star James Forrest, 31, remains stuck on 20 winnings gongs after not being included in even Ange Postecoglou's substitute's bench at the weekend, while Jimmy Johnstone, who was voted as Celtic's 'best ever player' is on 19.

Nir Bitton, who was transferred in the summer to Maccabi Tel Aviv, is on 18 trophies, along with Bobby Murdoch, Alec McNair and Jimmy McMenemy, with McGregor joining the group.

Willie Maley leads the most decorated Celtic list of players and managers combined with 31 trophies, ahead of McNeill with 31 and Jock Stein with 27.

At full-time, McGregor said: "On the big days you have got to show personality and I thought we played really well.

"Second-half, we had to dig in a bit. This means everything and we are always trying to get better and we put those demands on each other.

"You have to turn up on the big days and this is what it is all about."
