Celtic legend Martin O'Neill has congratulated the Hoops on their League Cup final victory over Rangers.

The former Parkhead boss, who won the competition himself in 2001, praised Ange Postecoglou's side in a witty social media post.

A double from striker Kyogo Furuhashi was enough for the Scottish champions to run out 2-1 winners at Hampden

And referring to the Australian's now iconic "we never stop" catchphrase, the Northern Irishman tweeted: "Really great result for Celtic. It certainly looks like they're not stopping! Hail Hail."

Meanwhile, Joe Hart celebrated in style as Celtic lifted the League Cup against Rangers at Hampden Park.

The experienced Englishman could be seen beating the Hoops badge as he paraded around the ecstatic supporters at full-time in Mount Florida.

And footage has now emerged of Hart taking a leaf out of rival goalkeeper Allan McGregor's book as he fired the match ball into the Celtic crowd before roaring in celebration.

Gers hall of famer McGregor sent a loose ball into the Celtic fans in frustration during the contest as Rangers attempted to take a throw-in on the far side.

After the full-time whistle, Hart said: “I thought it was a great game. I thought we kept our cool in some tough moments. We played really well and won it our way, Rangers are a good time and hard to put away. They pushed hard. We had enough in the end for this anthem [You’ll Never Walk Alone] to be blasted and send fans home happy.

“Me personally, it’s everything. It’s that moment. You’ve got to enjoy it. Look at this, look at it, just look at it, it’s special. You see it and you feel it. This club’s so special and it means so much to people.

“Us, putting our heart and soul into the pitch, however it turns out I’m pretty sure they’ll be behind us. But it demands trophies, we’re aware of that and we’re very, very proud.”
