Celtic loanee Yosuke Ideguchi has suffered a broken ankle while in action for his new club Avispa Fukuoka.
The midfielder joined the J1 League side on a season-long deal after struggling for game time at the Scottish champions since arriving last year.
Injuries stuttered his development at the Hoops and it looks like his bad luck has carried on as he suffered the setback in his first start for his new team.
Fukuoka announced the news on their official website, writing: "The injury was suffered on March 4 against Kashiwa Reysol.
"The diagnosis is a right ankle external fracture and the total time out will be three months".
The 26-year-old was one of three Japanese signings to join the Hoops in January 2022, alongside Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda.
Unlike those two and Kyogo Furuhashi, who joined in the summer of 2021, Ideguchi's switch from the J1 League just has not worked out.
He featured in 150 competitive minutes last season but did not set foot on the pitch for Celtic this term.

Meanwhile, Celtic hero Scott Brown has picked out Hoops midfielder Reo Hatate as someone he would have loved to have played with.
The former Hoops captain was speaking at a press conference to promote his night at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow with ex-team-mate Mikael Lustig.
And Brown revealed what he likes about the Japan international and Ange Postecoglou's team as a whole.
He said: "Definitely (I would have liked to play) with Reo in the middle of the park. He has great energy and definitely as I got older it would be have been great to play alongside him so he could have done some of my running.
"Kyogo always plays with a smile on his face. I just enjoy watching their energy. Jota seems to be enjoying his football as well.
"It is good that they have got that turnaround and the board have backed the manager which is fantastic.
"You back the manager and he has the quality to come in as well. His recruitment has been exceptional."
