Giorgos Giakoumakis has scored his first post-Celtic goal after bagging a header in Atlanta United's 5-1 home win over Portland Timbers.

The Greek traded Parkhead for the MLS in the January transfer window and got on the scoresheet shortly after half-time on what was his first start for the club.

His goal, the third goal in a resounding victory, was a pinpoint and powerful header from inside the box, which you can see in the clip below:

In the celebrations post-match, Giakoumakis took the time to record a personal message from the pitch. You can watch it here:

Additionally, the club released a video later in the evening of Giakoumakis addressing his team-mates in the changing room afterward, telling them: "I'm really happy and I think we can do great things in the future."

Apopular player while with the Scottish champions, when Giakoumakis confirmed he would be leaving Celtic he thanked the club for "an incredible journey".

"Well, that difficult time has arrived," he posted on Instagram at the time. "It was an incredible journey. I loved and was loved by the incomparable, amazing Celtic fans.

"Thank you very much. You will forever be in my heart and mind. I will be forever grateful to you. Goodbye. Your GG."
