Celtic Women are coming off a historic night at Parkhead after they defeated Glasgow City 3-1 in front of a crowd of over 9,500 fans.

After going a goal down early in the first half, the Hoops turned things around in the second 45 thanks to a stunning strike from midfielder Natasha Flint before a header from Claire O'Riordan put them in front.

Striker Kit Loferski then rounded off the victory with an excellent finish.

The result means Fran Alonso's side are in with a chance of lifting the SWPL for the first time with two games remaining.

Celtic take on Hibs away on Sunday May 14, before finishing their league campaign the following weekend when they take on Hearts on May 21.

However, it is not completely in their hands and two victories may not be enough to secure the title.

Interestingly, Rangers could decide Alonso's team's fate

Glasgow City currently sit top of the SWPL, two points clear with 77 points and a goal difference of 92.

Celtic are in second, which guarantees an automatic Champions League place, with 75 points and goal difference of 101

Rangers are in third with the same points as the Hoops but four goals worse off.

If all three teams are successful in the next round of fixtures, then the SWPL title will go to the final day.

If that turns out to be the case, then the Hoops may be looking for a favour across the city.

A win for Celtic and a victory for Rangers or a draw against Glasgow City, goal difference permitting, would hand the trophy to Fran Alonso's side.

Since there is still round of fixtures before the last day, Glasgow City could still win the league goal with a draw and a win from their remaining two games if their goal difference is better than Celtic's.

While if the leaders win both their matches, then they will be crowned champions.

Rangers themselves could also retain the title if they win their last two games and also outscore both teams above them.

Celtic vs Hearts and Rangers vs Glasgow City both kick off at 4.10pm on Sunday May 21.
