The close season is almost upon us and as usual the rumour mill is running rife with potential Celtic summer signings.
Ange Postecoglou's men are already being linked with Dutch central defender Xavier Mbuyamba who has drawn comparisons with Virgil van Dijk.
Celtic are reportedly "looking into" signing the former Dutch under-19 international but it seems they face competition from English Premier League side Wolves as well as Ajax.
Mbuyamba currently plays for FC Volendam in the Eredivisie. He has made 28 appearances this season and has netted an impressive five goals. Volendam currently sit in 14th place in the league, just five points clear of the drop zone.
The youngster comes from good football stock having signed for both Barcelona (2019) and Chelsea (2020) in his career so far although he never made an appearance for either.
Celtic were beaten to the punch for his signature by Barcelona four years ago but it seems like the Scottish champions could be set to rekindle their interest.
At just 21 years old, Mbuyama would certainly fit the bill for a prototype Postecoglou signing whereby the club brings him in young and possibly cashes in on his talent further down the line.

Is the centre of defence a priority for Postecoglou and does the recent defeat to Rangers also highlight Celtic's need for a midfield enforcer in order to cope domestically with a new challenge from their city rivals as well as the rigours of the Champions League group stage football?
Do Celtic need a Paul Lambert, Victor Wanyama or Scott Brown type player to take the club to the next level both at home or in the Champions League.
Meanwhile, the new Celtic third kit was leaked online by kit manufacturers Adidas.

The jersey is advertised as "Vista Green / Beam Green" and features a swirling sound wave-inspired style print which is the reported third kit for next season and retailing at £70.
It's unclear whether a club announcement on the kit is imminent or whether the listing has been posted in error.
