Celtic transfer target Odin Thiago Holm has been nominated for the European Golden Boy award for 2023.
The midfielder, reportedly on his way to the club from Norway side Valerenga in a £2.6 million move, has been named in the 100-man shortlist for the award, which recognises the best young players plying their trade in European football.
Reports in his native Norway have speculated that Holm has agreed on a move to Celtic in what would be new manager Brendan Rodgers’ first signing since his reappointment as boss. The player was linked whilst previous manager Ange Postecoglou was in charge, but it seems the interest shown is consistent even with the new boss in place.
The 20-year-old can play anywhere in the central midfield position and has made nearly 100 senior appearances in his career so far. He also attracted the attention of fellow Scandanavian side Copenhagen, but their reported bid in January was rejected by his current club.

Holm was named alongside the likes of Gavi, last year’s winner, as well as Xavi Simons, Evan Ferguson and Florian Wirtz, amongst others.
Previous winners of this prestigious award who went on to live up to their hype include the likes of Lionel Messi, Wayne Rooney, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland.
Conversely, Renato Sanches and Alexandre Pato have also scooped this prize and have failed to make a lasting impact on the game in the years that followed them, showing that success in this competition does not necessarily guarantee continuous success.
