Celtic could reportedly have to pay £4million should they wish to sign Mathias Kvistgaarden.

The Parkhead side have been linked with a transfer swoop for the Brondby striker.

And the Scottish Sun claim it could cost up to £4m to tempt Brondby to sell.

Kvistgaarden, 21, is under contract with the Danish side until 2027. 

However, it's claimed a £4m fee could be enough to finalise a transfer switch for the striker two years after Brondby sold Jesper Lindstrom to Eintracht Frankfurt for £6m.

Asked about Kvistgaarden's position at Brondby and the interest from Celtic, director of football Carsten Jensen told TV3: "Basically, it has not been part of the plan.

"We are still in the process of transfers. It's both relation to ins and outs.

"We still need to adjust the number of players in the squad, even though we are getting to where we want to be.

"It's definitely getting closer to what we want to have in our squad. Then we have our eyes and ears open in relation to a few more positions.”

Brendan Rodgers admitted he is keen to add quality to his side before the end of the summer transfer window.

He said: “We want good players, whatever age they are. We need quality, that’s for sure. Hopefully between now and the end of the window we can improve the squad. 

 “Clearly the model of the club is to bring the players in at a younger age and develop them and improve them. But we are not against bringing in someone at 26 or 27 if they can improve the squad.

“When I look at the team, it’s that match-winning ability that we maybe need to have more of within the squad.”
