Dundee manager Tony Docherty has joked he is "sick of the sight" of Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers ahead of the clash between the two sides at Parkhead.

The Dens Park club travel to Glasgow as the Scottish Premiership returns after the international break and Docherty is looking forward to the fixture.

He was assistant to Derek McInnes at Aberdeen when the Dons were competing against the Hoops during Rodgers' first spell in charge and the 52-year-old has nothing but respect for the Northern Irishman.

He said: "We went toe-to-toe with him and I have the utmost respect for him. I am glad he is back in the league because there can’t be enough top coaches in Scottish football, in my opinion.

"There are so many brilliant coaches, players and clubs but for him, he is someone I have a huge amount of respect for because he has coached at every level and he has excelled.

"He has also maintained his humanity and he is such a good guy to speak to. He is good company and I look forward to seeing him on Saturday.

“I remember when we were pitting our wits against him, it was us against him really. Chris Davies was his assistant at the time and I would like to say fond memories but they weren’t really.

"I was sick of the sight of him but he is somebody I have huge respect for because of the work he has done in the game.”
