Everything Brendan Rodgers said to Sky Sports, following Celtic’s 4-1 win at Tynecastle earlier today…
Brendan, well done. How do you sum up that win today?
It's a fantastic win for us. This is a notoriously difficult place to come. I thought a lot of our game was excellent. We scored some outstanding goals, but I was disappointed we didn’t one: score more and two: the goal we gave away was a shame. Overall, on the back end of a lot of travel for some of the players coming back from international duty, to put in a performance here and play that well was very good.
How key was setting the tone early today?
Yes, very important. I said that to be able to come here you have to start quick and bring the game to a level that makes it difficult for Hearts. That energy and quality. The players did that.

Speaking to Matt O’Riley there, his numbers continue to go up this season. He was being quite modest, but what is it about him this season? He’s taken his game to another level.
He's a wonderful football player. It's known when you're a number eight or an attacking midfielder that you want to have numbers. It was a great ball by Luis Palma, he's shown that a number of times since he's came in when we watched him. He's got that quality to deliver. Matty’s finish was absolutely brilliant. First, he makes the run – we always talk about the penetration to get in behind the back-line – but then to finish with that quality was very good.
Somebody else whose numbers are good is Kyogo, that’s his 60th Celtic goal. In your first spell, you had good strikers like Odsonne Edouard, Moussa Dembele and Leigh Griffiths. Where do you rate him, in terms of his contribution?
His contributions are very good. Like those players, they were outstanding talents. Celtic over the years have always had a talisman up front, but it's about the team, really. He’s a wonderful little striker, he gets goals, he makes runs, he can make more runs. Overall, he’s a fantastic focal point for us.

Speaking to Callum McGregor and Matt O’Riley, they know themselves, it could have been a lot more today. Is that the good thing? The fact it was such a convincing win, but there's more to come?
The players are finding a level, they’re understanding a lot more about what we want. The tempo of the game was good for us, and some of the quality was very good. My only disappointment was that spell when it got to 3-1, we missed the penalty, but it went to 3-1, we’ve got to keep the ball better. I know we’re tired and there's a little bit of fatigue settling in, but you can rest with the ball better than we did in that period of the game. The substitutions came in and made a really good contribution. I thought James Forrest was absolutely brilliant when he came into the game. Overall, I'm delighted with the performance and result.
Onto Europe now, how important is this, to go and put on a show again and try and get that win now?
We need to just recover. We’ve put a lot of effort into today. We’ll go away and study and finalise our plan for Wednesday, and the supporters will be there for us giving us everything, and the team will give everything. Let's see where that takes us.
