Mikey Johnston is reportedly a loan "target" for English Championship side West Brom.

This is according to the Daily Mail who claim that that the "Midlands outfit have the Republic of Ireland international in their sights".

Johnston recently scored his first competitive goals for Celtic in over four years as he netted twice against Dundee on Boxing Day.

He spent last season on loan in Portugal with Vitoria de Guimaraes after signing a new deal which keeps him under contract at Parkhead until the summer of 2025.

Johnston has played eight times for the Scottish Champions so far this season.

Meanwhile, Scott Brown has vowed to revive a 'sleeping giant' in the form of Ayr United after the Celtic legend became the club's new boss.

Tonight, it was confirmed the 38-year-old had been named as Lee Bullen's successor at Somerset Park.

The former Hoops and Scotland captain is joined by former Hibs teammate and trusted No.2 Steven Whittaker as his assistant. The duo have signed contracts with the Honest Men until the summer of 2026.

They're in the stands in Ayrshire tonight as they watch their new team for the first time in the flesh. Caretaker boss Davie White remains in charge as relegation rivals Arbroath come to town.

Broony's first official game in charge will come in another crucial Championship match against Queen's Park on Saturday at the national stadium.

And he is determined to get Ayr back on track after a poor campaign to date. 

He told the Ayrshire Post: "I see the club as a bit of a sleeping giant and they've definitely under-achieved this season.

"So first and foremost we want to come in and get things moving in the right direction again and that means getting our own ideas across.

"These things don't happen overnight but we're ready to work hard for it. I work well with Steven. We started together when we were teenagers at Hibs and there's great chemistry there.

"People may have a perception of me from my playing days but I'd like to think I offer something else as a manager as well.

"Yes, I'm a winner and I will always have that mentality but there is the bigger picture as well in management and that's where Steven is great for me in this role."
