Tony Haggerty joined Ryan McGinlay on Thursday's edition of The Celtic Way's morning briefing for January 25.
On today's show, the duo spoke about the recent links between Matt O'Riley and Atletico Madrid, as it was reported yesterday that the Spanish club were interested in the services of Celtic's star man this season. After impressing against Diego Simeone's side in the Champions League this season, the La Liga giants have reportedly made their interest clear in the Denmark international.
Sky Sports documented that the potential deal would be an initial loan, with a compulsory buy clause inserted at the end of the season. Celtic have since rejected the notion of losing their top performer, though Tony and Ryan agreed that the vultures will continue to circle due to O'Riley's top performances this campaign. Alas, they both agreed that a move in the summer would suit all parties, given Celtic's lack of time this month to source and bring in a replacement.

Also on the podcast, the pair spoke about Celtic's lack of incomings this month, as the transfer window closes in under a week. So far, only Rapid Vienna winger Nicolas Kühn has joined the club, with a left-back and backup striker still not close to transpiring. Has Brendan Rodgers been sufficiently backed since making his dramatic return to the club? Will Celtic be able to clear the decks concerning deadwood currently in and around the squad? Time will tell on both questions.
Finally, on the second anniversary of his passing, Tony took time to reflect on the brief but impactful spell at the club that the Dutch manager had back in the 1997/98 season. From signing Henrik Larsson and Paul Lambert, to dramatically stopping the 10 on the season's final day, Tony waxes lyrical about Jansen's legacy at the club.
