Celtic hero John Hartson has slammed the players the club have signed so far this season, insisting they are "coasting".

The Scottish champions dropped to second in the league after drawing 1-1 with Kilmarnock at Parkhead and Rangers also winning 3-0 against St Johnstone.

And Hartson insists the new players brought in need to be doing more.

Speaking on Go Radio, he said: "Yes, Kilmarnock are doing well but you can't let them get three results against you and still expect to win the league.

"Some Celtic players wouldn't play for Kilmarnock. They're coasting, happy to be Celtic players and wouldn't play for other teams in Scotland.

"Brendan Rodgers has been missing some first team players. Cameron Carter-Vickers is out. Reo Hatate is out.

"But some of the players who have come into replace them, they are showing that they are just not quite at the level.

"They should be ready to go in and give Brendan Rodgers a headache."

Meanwhile, Karamoko Dembele has opened up on his time at Celtic, confirming he has fond memories of life in Glasgow.

The winger burst onto the scene when he was just 13 after becoming the youngest every player to make his debut for the Hoops U20s side.

Dembele made his debut on the final day of the 2018-19 campaign against Hearts as Celtic lifted the Scottish Premiership under Neil Lennon.

His rise continued the following season where  he became the youngest player to represent a Scottish club in Europe when he faced CFR Cluj in the Europa League.

However, injuries would disrupt his time at Parkhead and he failed to tie down a regular place under Lennon or Ange Postecoglou.

This led to the forward joining Ligue 1 side Brest in 2022 before moving to Blackpool on loan last summer.

He has impressed in England, scoring seven goals and providing five assists so far this season.

And Dembele reflected on his time in Glasgow in a  TikTok feature with The Athletic, where was challenged to give one-word answers to different questions,

When asked about the Scottish champions, he replied: "Boyhood".

The forward was then quizzed about Rangers to which he responded: "Enemy".

He also refereed to Parkhead as "Paradise" and called Scotland his "home".
