Celtic needed a spark from somewhere. A catalyst. A game-changer. A momentum shifter.
Brendan Rodgers' men might have got it in the shape of Adam Idah's super-sub performance at Fir Park. Make no mistake it is at such moments that titles can be won and the mentality can change.
The on-loan Norwich City striker's double in Lanarkshire meant that Rangers lead at the top was whittled back down to two points just when it looked like it was going to stretch to four. The optics on that would have been bleak for Celtic but the Republic of Ireland international attacker showed the heart, desire, commitment and fight that is needed at the business end of the campaign. In short, Idah did the business.
He led the line and led by example as he scored his second career brace for Celtic. It was his first two goals for the club from open play and both were worth the wait and admission money alone. It was inspirational stuff. It certainly inspired the Celtic faithful amassed behind the goal as his 94th-minute clincher sparked delirium. It could be a galvaniser inside the champions' dressing room.

Reports of Celtic's demise may have been greatly exaggerated. The men in green and white are still in there fighting for this title. Make no mistake about that.
It was a huge goal in terms of the title race. It was taken by aplomb and he made the hardest of tasks - sticking the ball in the net - look as easy as shelling peas. Scoring is not easy at the best of times but what a sweet side footer Idan produced into the bottom corner of Liam Kelly's goal as the year-old popped up with the goods for his team when they needed him most.
It capped a player-of-the-match second-half display which started magnificently as he dragged his side back into the contest just six minutes after the restart with a classic bullet header high into the net following Greg Taylor's sumptuous delivery from the left. His impact was immediate. As Chris Sutton said on Sky Sports commentary: "I tell you what. What a header this is. A towering header. The ball is perfect from (Greg) Taylor...I can't tell you how good this header is. The direction, the power, absolutely stunning - Celtic back in it!"
Back in it, Celtic were and then some. It had the feeling of a BIG goal from the BIG man who was absolutely sensational. An old-fashioned centre-forward he may be but his four goals for the club have already given Celtic two massive league wins at Easter Road and Fir Park. On both occasions, Idah has stepped up to the plate when it matters. It is a small wonder that Rodgers was excited about the player when he brought him on board.
As Rodgers said: "We needed a reference in the team and Adam can do that. As soon as the big guy comes into the game, he sets it up so well for us. He scores two brilliant goals. His first one is an amazing header - it's a great cross by Greg [Taylor] but his header is absolutely brilliant and then obviously he makes his first-post run and gets the second one."
Idah is now in the mix to start against Dundee on Wednesday night at Parkhead. If the truth be told he should be the first name in the Northern Irishman's team-sheet for the midweek clash against the Dark Blues. Any more stellar performances like this from Idah will have Celtic ruing the fact they never inserted an option-to-buy clause in the loan deal.
Meanwhile, Norwich City will be rubbing their hands with glee and getting ready to tell Celtic if they want Idah to stay out then they will have to open their wallets and dig deep come the summer or they can sing like a canary.
