Motherwell vs Celtic ref watch as handball call assessed

Adam Idah and Luis Palma scored in the second half to secure a 3-1 win for the champions. 

The result keeps Brendan Rodgers' side in touching distance of Rangers at the top of the table.

Theo Bair disallowed goal

While the hosts did eventually take the lead in the match, they thought they'd managed to do so after just four minutes.

On-form attacker Theo Bair had the ball in the net after breaking through, beating Liam Scales and Maik Nawrocki in a foot race.

The celebration was short live though, with the linesman's flag up for offside. 

A pretty simple one for the officials and VAR.

Verdict: Correct decision

Dan Casey handball

Yang swiveled on the edge of the box having cut in from the right wing. 

He tried to get a shot away at Liam Kelly's goal, however, it was deflected away by Dan Casey. It appeared to strike the powerful centre-back's hand though as he blocked the South Korean's effort.

The referee waved play on, however, there was no pause for the incident to be checked either.

Chris Sutton was stunned that VAR did not intervene. He said: “His arm is outside the silhouette. I’m really surprised Willie Collum hasn’t been sent to the monitor there.”

It's difficult to disagree with the co-commentator.

Verdict: Incorrect decision

Callum Butcher VAR incident 

With the scorelines still 1-1, prior to Idah's second and Palma's winner, there was a red card review.

On the edge of the box, defender Callum Butcher was penalised for a blatant pull-back on Idah. Collum brandished a booking for the foul, but he was advised to go check the pitchside monitor to consider upgrading the decision to a sending-off.

With both Bevis Mugabi and Paul McInn in the vicinity and looking likely to be able to cover, a yellow was sufficient.
