Liel Abada is reportedly nearing a Celtic transfer exit to the MLS.

The winger is set to leave Parkhead on a permanent basis amid talks with Charlotte FC.

And the Scottish Sun reports Charlotte - managed by Dean Smith and who have Scott Arfield on their books - will stump up £8m to land the Celtic forward.

Abada has struggled at Celtic in recent months with the player not in the right frame of mind to play due to the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict.

Brendan Rodgers confirmed Abada's struggles previously with Abada last in a matchday squad in the 2-1 win over Hibs on April 7. He played 25 minutes from the bench that night but hasn't been involved since.

The Celtic boss appeared to coll suggestions of Abada leaving for the MLS during his press conference last week as he remained coy over a transfer exit, however, reports claim a deal is edging closer to being finalised.

Discussing Abada's situation last month, Rodgers said: "I am really empathetic towards the issue that he has as it is more than football. It is at a human level, so I have to respect that.

"He is training and working away but as I said to you, this period is all about the mind and if you are not quite right then... firstly I cannot take any risk with him because we will always support him and have to look after the squad as well.

"People can talk about what is going on there and forget about it. This is his life, every single day and night... families in a war.

"It is a really tough situation for him and on a human level I have real empathy for him and we will do that, like I have with a number of players before, to take the human aspect and look after him.

"When is ready, if he is ready, he will be able to give us everything."
