Angus Gunn could be the ideal replacement for Joe Hart between the sticks for Celtic next season. 

That's the view of Rangers hero Barry Ferguson.

'Good shout,' was the response of the pundit as he addressed a call on Go Radio's Football Show this evening.

Brendan Rodgers' side will be on the lookout for a new No.1 this summer after Hart retires upon the completion of the campaign.

The highly experienced stopper announced in February that he would call time on his career at the end of the season.

So, while the ex-England and Manchester City first pick is still performing for the champions, attention has turned to his potential replacement.

And Gunn was one of the names on the lips of a caller to Go Radio tonight, with the 28-year-old now Steve Clarke's first-choice goalkeeper for the national team.

Former Scotland captain Ferguson believes Gunn would be a solid option for Celtic. 

However, he pointed out that if Norwich - his current club - gains promotion, then he may be out of their price range.

Ferguson responded: "Yeah, it's a good shout. I didn't think he had the best of games against the Netherlands but he's certainly impressed me since coming into the international spot.

"He's a good goalkeeper and he's playing at a good level down there. But it will all depend if they do get into the play-offs and get into the Premier League because there's no way it's going to cross his mind to leave Norwich.

"But if they don't get promoted then I think it could be one that Celtic would certainly would look at because he's a very good goalkeeper."

Meanwhile, Neil Lennon has branded the fallout over Rangers' badge defacing the Hearts crest a 'non-story'. 

The Celtic legend believes the situation has been blown out of proportion after Sunday's Sky Sports Cup final between Rangers and Partick Thistle.
