Liel Abada hopes to emulate the must win every game mentality learned at Celtic as he embarks on a new chapter with Charlotte FC. 

Abada joined the Major League Soccer side in a deal rising up to £10million last month, signing a contract through until 2026. 

It was a disappointment for many Celtic fans to see the winger leave the Scottish Premiership holders. However, troubles in his homeland escalated his exit. 

During his time in Glasgow, Abada scored 29 goals and provided 22 assists. He also contributed significantly by winning two Scottish Premiership titles, two Scottish League Cups, and one Scottish Cup.

And he's eager to bring that winning mentality to the United States. Charlotte currently sit mid-table but displayed vast improvements during a 1-1 draw with Cincinnati last time out, a game where Abada made his debut.

Speaking at his highly-antipacted introductory press-conference, the Israel internationalist confessed: "Yeah, Celtic is a really big club with a lot of pressure, and I had an amazing time at Celtic. A lot of trophies, big games, atmospheres, and I just want to bring the same mentality to Charlotte. 

"I want to show myself (positively) on the pitch, help the team achieve our target and this is the most important thing for me."

The 22-year-old began his career at Maccabi Petah Tikva before Celtic swooped to tie him down to a five-year-deal in summer 2021. But events off the pitch meant his time in Glasgow ended earlier than planned.

Abada tells the story of his Parkhead departure and explains the motive behind joining the North Carolina based club. 

He added: "Before I came, (I knew) the MLS is a really good league, it's a league that's improving every year and you can see a lot of big players in the MLS.

"I had an amazing time at Celtic, but I'm not going to lie to you after the war started it was a really hard time for me.

"I got so many support from Brendan Rodgers, from the people within the club, from the players and it's really helped me. But we spoke with each other, me and Brendan Rodgers, the people at the club, and got to the decision together what was best for me and what was best for the club. 

"Now I'm here, I'm really happy to be here. I'm really excited to start my journey here and then hopefully I can help the team achieve our target." 

Asked what qualities can help him succeed in the MLS, he replied: "You know Charlotte is a really good team, we saw that in the game against Cincinnati, we got a lot of chances to score and we played from the wing with the attacking transition.

"It is really good for my style, and hopefully I can bring more to the team and show myself more on the pitch."
