Celtic starlet Bosun Lawal has insisted he is returning to Celtic as a "stronger player" after a loan spell at Fleetwood.

The highly-rated centre-back, 20, spent the season in English League One for his first full season in senior football.

Lawal - who plays for the Ireland under-21 national team - was a regular in the Celtic B team in the season previous but had his first full taste of senior football at Fleetwood.

The defender has been in the Celtic matchday squad on a handful of occasions and made his debut for the Parkhead first-team in January last year in a cameo appearance against Morton in the Scottish Cup.

Lawal played 47 times this season, becoming a regular for Fleetwood manager Charlie Adam in a challenging season in League One.

And despite the personal pride in a full season of senior football, Lawal's loan ended in disappointment as Fleetwood were relegated to League Two.

In a farewell message on social media, Lawal wrote: "Big thanks to my teammates, my manager, and all the staff.

"My first full season in senior football had its ups and downs, but I return to Celtic as a stronger player thanks to the people around me.

"Fleetwood is a special club with special fans, and no doubt it will get back to where it belongs.

Meanwhile, Celtic loanee Kwon has been ruled out for the rest of the season through a hamstring problem.

The Korean midfielder had impressed in Paisley for St Mirren - with Stephen Robinson keen on an extended loan - but is unlikely to play again this season through injury.

A St Mirren update read: "Manager Stephen Robinson confirms that Hyeokkyu Kwon is likely to be out for the rest of the season after picking up a hamstring injury."
