Matt O'Riley swept Celtic's annual awards last night, picking up the club's Player of the Year, Young Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year accolades in one fell swoop.

During the latter presentation, a host of Celtic players featured on-screen inside Glasgow's OVO Hydro with pre-recorded monologues detailing who they'd voted for ahead of the ceremony and why.

Daizen Maeda's blunt but hilarious reason for choosing O'Riley was among the segment's most humorous entries – but backup goalkeeper Scott Bain's was equally as funny in praise of his shot-stopping counterpart, Joe Hart.

As shared on social media, Bain said of his teammate: "My player of the year is Joe Hart, I think he's been outstanding. He's always making sure that the team is right, and he's made some big saves in some big games.

"For someone that age – 45 I think he is now? – to be diving about like that shows real determination and real professionalism to get that far."

Despite being on the cusp of retirement and one of the Celtic squad's oldest players, Hart is only 37.

Bain, clearly having fun with his teammate, also has previous to this end – having wished the Englishman a happy 50th birthday last month, a quip that was captured and posted on Celtic's official TikTok account.

Having made his 150th appearance for Celtic in Saturday's 2-1 win over Rangers, Hart's remaining games for Brendan Rodgers, and indeed his professional playing career as a whole, are against Kilmarnock on Wednesday, St Mirren on Saturday, and again against Rangers in the ultimate stage of this year's Scottish Cup on May 25.
